Your new role
As Lead Data Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping Novo Nordisk’s data engineering capabilities within Enterprise AI – Product Supply Data & AI Solutions. You will own and influence solution architecture, drive technical excellence, and ensure that our data solutions are scalable, compliant, high-performing, and ready to support AI-driven use cases.
In this role, you will:
- Provide engineering leadership for Product Supply Data & AI Solutions, setting the technical direction for solution architecture, data engineering standards, and ways of working at enterprise scale.
- Bring an AI-first mindset to the role by building data foundations that are not just reliable and scalable, but also ready AI use cases, and the future of AI-driven manufacturing and supply solutions.
- Lead the development of modern platform capabilities and pipelines in Databricks, ensuring strong governance, performance, cost efficiency, and compliance in a regulated environment.
- Mentor and develop data engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and hands-on coaching.
- Act as a senior technical partner across teams, aligning engineers, architects, data scientists, and business stakeholders around scalable, high-quality data and AI solutions.

You will join the PS Data & AI Enablement team, part of Enterprise AI at Novo Nordisk, delivering enterprise solutions within the data and AI space. Our department serves all of Product Supply Data & AI Solutions, working closely with stakeholders across the organization to deliver impactful data and AI solutions. Our team consists of tech leads, engineers, and architects all working together in an agile setup with a shared ambition to empower the business through data and AI.
Your skills & qualifications
To thrive and succeed in this role, we expect you to bring deep technical expertise combined with leadership capabilities.
You'll bring with you:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, combined with at least 8 years of experience in data engineering, including 3+ years in a senior or lead role.
- Deep expertise in Azure Databricks, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows, Databricks SQL, and modern data platform capabilities.
- Strong proficiency in Python, Apache Spark, and SQL, with proven experience designing and building scalable, production-ready data pipelines and data products.
- Solid understanding of BI concepts, dimensional modelling, report layers, semantic layers, data integrations, and self-service data platforms.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub, coding best practices, and agile ways of working such as Scrum.
- Experience working in a GxP-regulated environment, including familiarity with required processes for handling GxP data.
- Professional proficiency in English, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical teams, business stakeholders, and different levels of the organisation.
It will be considered an advantage if you have:
- Databricks Certified Data Engineer (Professional) certification or other relevant data engineering or cloud certifications
- Familiarity with Azure and AWS cloud services
- Experience with Power BI or similar BI tools

Salary: For this role, the Annual Base Salary ranges from 742,600.00 to 1,091,600.00 DKK, corresponding to the level of the position.
The placement within the salary range will be assessed during the recruitment process based on the candidate’s skills, competencies, knowledge, and relevant experience.
Incentives and Benefits: The salary package may include short-term and/or long-term incentives as well as other employee benefits based on position level, location, functional area and relevant market benchmarks.
