About the department
Material Manufacturing Development is responsible for the global control strategies for GMP materials and the development of analytical methods to ensure their suitability for commercial production of Novo Nordisk products.

The area comprises approximately 160 employees with backgrounds in engineering and natural sciences, organized into four departments: Raw, Primary Packaging, Analytical Development, and CMO Material Support.

Material Manufacturing Development is part of Sourcing Operations, which oversees the global inbound supply chain of Novo Nordisk and includes over 600 employees. We leverage our diverse perspectives to generate innovative ideas and high-quality solutions, ensuring continuous improvement of the Sourcing Operations function globally. You will work in an organisation characterized by innovation, openness, and highly engaged colleagues dedicated to improving patients' lives worldwide.

 

The position

As VP Material Manufacturing Development, you will report to the Corporate VP for Sourcing Operations, a member of the External Supply management team in Product Supply.

You will play a pivotal role in charting the course for future growth and success in the area. Your responsibilities will include setting the strategic direction, building a robust organization, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations, and expanding into new classes of materials and manufacturing technology platforms.

The position is based in Denmark, and you will divide your time between Bagsværd and Hillerød, where these departments are located.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • ​​Continue building a robust organisation: Lead cross-organizational initiatives, ensuring optimal resource allocation and the right competencies.
  • Set Strategic Direction: Achieve long-term goals for Material Manufacturing Development aligned with Novo Nordisk's mission and values, benefiting internal customers and patients.
  • Ensure Global Standards: Harmonise operations across the four departments, adhering to existing global standards and developing new ones as we expand into innovative technologies.
  • Drive Organisational and Employee Development: Foster growth and enhance performance for improved business results.
  • Promote Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the organisation.

 

Qualifications
You are an experienced leader of leaders, currently managing an organization of 100+ employees. You hold a degree in natural sciences and have experience in the pharmaceutical industry. While some GMP experience is beneficial, your leadership skills are paramount. You are recognized for:

  • Your ability to lead and navigate increasing complexity.
  • Being a strategic thinker with the ability to make informed decisions and drive transformative change.
  • A proven history of driving strategic initiatives, process optimization, and achieving operational excellence.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and people skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate leaders and your organization.
