Category:  Digital & IT
Location:

Bagsværd, Capital Region of Denmark, DK

.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Windows Server Architect to own and drive the architecture, standards, governance, and strategic direction of our enterprise Windows platforms. You will be responsible for defining how Windows infrastructure is designed, secured, automated, and operated across two segregated environments: a General Enterprise Network and a business-critical Production Network.

Your new role

As our new Senior Windows Server Architect, you will act as a technical authority for the Windows Server platform, working closely with infrastructure engineering, operations, cybersecurity, network, application, cloud, and enterprise architecture teams.

You will be part of the team, collaborating with the product owner on setting the direction, with responsibility for defining how the Windows Server platform should evolve rather than performing day-to-day server administration. You will be responsible for defining secure, resilient, scalable, and supportable Windows Server architecture across two separate infrastructure environments:

·       General Network – supporting corporate and enterprise IT services.

·       Production Network – supporting business-critical production systems with stricter requirements for security, availability, change control, and operational stability.

Your key responsibilities

·       Own and drive the enterprise Windows Server architecture, roadmap, standards, and technical direction across General and Production environments.

·       Define and govern secure, resilient, and standardized Windows Server platforms, including server configuration, networking, storage, virtualization, monitoring, backup, and recovery.

·       Establish security architecture and hardening standards, covering privileged access, authentication, service accounts, certificates, vulnerability management, and compliance requirements.

·       Design and maintain Windows Server architectures for segregated enterprise and production networks, ensuring secure integrations, controlled access, and high availability.

·       Lead platform lifecycle management and modernization initiatives, including upgrades, migrations, automation, Infrastructure as Code, and reduction of technical debt.

·       Define architectural standards for high availability, disaster recovery, clustering, and resilience, ensuring business-critical services meet recovery and availability objectives.

·       Act as the senior technical authority for Windows Server technologies, providing architectural governance, design reviews, technical leadership, and cross-functional collaboration with security, infrastructure, and application teams.

Your new department

We are the Server Platform sub-department within Novo Nordisk Infrastructure Platforms department. We operate and manage all enterprise servers across Novo Nordisk, covering both Windows and Linux environments, and spanning public and private cloud domains. As a full operating team, we ensure fast, reliable, and compliant server operations through standardized practices and continuous improvement. Our team operates globally from locations including the Philippines, India, Poland (Polan), Czech Republic, Denmark, and the United States. Our primary objective is to streamline server operations across all platforms and domains, enabling efficient execution while maintaining Novo Nordisk compliance requirements.

Your skills & qualifications

The successful candidate should have extensive enterprise-level experience with:

·       Microsoft Windows Server architecture and engineering.

·       Large-scale Windows Server environments.

·       Active Directory and Group Policy.

·       Windows Server security and hardening.

·       PowerShell and Windows infrastructure automation.

·       Server lifecycle management and patching architecture.

·       DNS, DHCP, PKI/certificate services, and Windows authentication technologies.

·       High availability and Windows Server clustering.

·       Virtualized Windows Server environments, preferably VMware and/or Hyper-V.

·       Backup, disaster recovery, and infrastructure resilience.

·       Monitoring, logging, and enterprise management platforms.

·       Enterprise networking concepts including segmentation, firewalls, load balancing, DNS, and secure communication between network zones.

·       Privileged access and administrative security models.

·       Infrastructure architecture documentation and technical standards.

Moreover;

·       Having experience with Azure, Azure Arc, hybrid infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, and modern automation platforms is highly desirable.

·       Having experience from regulated, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, financial, healthcare, or other highly controlled enterprise environments is an advantage

·       Significant experience in designing and supporting Windows Server infrastructure in large, complex enterprise environments.

·       Demonstrated experience as a Windows Server Architect, Infrastructure Architect, Principal Engineer, or equivalent senior technical role.

·       Experience designing infrastructure for environments with strict network segregation and security requirements.

·       Experience with business-critical and highly available production environments.

·       Strong understanding of infrastructure security, risk management, and lifecycle management.

·       Proven ability to translate business, security, and operational requirements into practical technical architectures.
