The position 
As a Senior Ethics & Compliance Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in being an Ethics & Compliance sparring partner, providing integral advice on both strategic and operational matters within the business area you are key account for – ranging from entering new business models and therapy areas, external requests and media inquiries, partnerships and mergers and acquisitions. 

Put broadly, you will have the following responsibility: 

  • Create trusted relationships and serve as a sparring partner to the business to drive innovation, improvement and awareness of the ethics and compliance standards
  • Proactively identify, analyse, and resolve complex challenges and opportunities within the area from an E&C perspective
  • Identify potential risks, assess their impact, and develop effective mitigation strategies to uphold ethical standards and compliance requirements
  • Support the development and implementation of comprehensive training programs to elevate awareness and understanding of ethical and compliance protocols across the area
  • Contribute to maturing our global compliance framework and our support to the busi-ness, by leading and contributing to cross functional initiatives and projects within Business Ethics Compliance Office (BECO)

 
Qualifications 
To succeed in this role, the ideal person will have a robust understanding of working within ethics and compliance in a complex regulatory environment.

Other experience and skills we are seeking include: 

  • A master’s degree in law, business or similar, with around 5-10 years of experience 
  • Strong track record working for a large multinational organization, within Ethics & Compliance, Legal or other adjacent function, focusing on Ethics & Compliance, incl. fraud, bribery, off-label promotion, interaction with HCPs and HCOs, TRPs etc. 
  • Preferably experience from Pharma, Healthcare, Biotech or relevant consultancy
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, along with fluency in both written and verbal English
  • Excellent ability to drive cross functional projects and initiatives

 As this is a new position, it is advantageous to possess a good foundation in agile thinking, demonstrating the ability to adapt swiftly to evolving circumstances while fostering a culture of innovation. Curiosity and a willingness to voice opinions are essential, as you will engage in open dialogue and contribute with valuable insights. Moreover, it is useful that you have a keen business acumen, enabling you to navigate in a complex landscape and make informed decisions that align with our ethics and compliance standards. 
 
About the department 
The Business Ethics Compliance Office (BECO) develops and leads the implementation of Novo Nordisk’s global ethics & compliance strategy and programme, which focuses on the preven-tion of fraud, bribery, and off-label promotion. BECO is also responsible for Novo Nordisk’s global systems and processes related to tracking payments to healthcare professionals, as well as compliance with data protection and AI regulations and respect for human rights.
