Are you motivated by the opportunity to establish a solid, modernized data foundation that drives digital transformation and enables procurement processes across a global organization? Do you have deep experience designing Azure cloud data architectures, ensuring high‑quality upstream and downstream integrations, and creating scalable data models to support analytics, AI, and business use cases? Are you enthusiastic about making a significant data infrastructure to support Novo Nordisk's global procurement initiatives?

If so, this role could be an ideal fit for you!

Your new role

As a Senior data foundation lead, you will join the Advanced Analytics team and play a key role in shaping the procurement data foundation that enables analytics, BI, and AI across Corporate Procurement at Novo Nordisk. You will work closely with BI partners, system and process specialists, and procurement stakeholders across the organization. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the architecture, design and evolution of a robust, scalable data foundation, establishing a trusted single source of truth for procurement data and enabling high-quality analytics that support strategic procurement decisions and value creation.

Key responsibilities

  • Evolve the procurement data foundation to be robust, scalable, and aligned with Novo Nordisk’s data strategy.
  • Design and implement a medallion-style data model with procurement domain experts to establish a single source of truth for procurement data, ensuring high-quality, governed access for accurate downstream analytics and consumption
  • Establish a streamlined architecture and define and enforce backend and frontend best practices covering version control, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing etc.
  • Create comprehensive documentation to foster data literacy and enable procurement users to access high-quality data through built solutions or self-service.
  • Own upstream and downstream integrations for the data foundation, delivering reliable data pipelines between the foundation and both in‑house and third‑party procurement systems.

Your new department

Corporate Procurement is the Centre of Excellence for procurement in Novo Nordisk. We are responsible for the global procurement strategy, processes, and systems. We negotiate contracts covering more than DKK 80 billion of Novo Nordisk’s spend. Global Procurement has 500 employees around the world with the largest hubs in Denmark, India and the US.

A key enabler for taking Procurement to the next level will be to leverage holistic insights to drive value in and from procurement. The Advanced Analytics team is responsible for driving this journey.

Your skills and qualifications

As our ideal candidate, you should meet the following qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, information systems or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
  • + 10 years’ experience in the data domain, including extensive experience in data engineering and enabling analytics, with a proven track record of designing large-scale enterprise architectures and remaining hands-on while owning end-to-end data solutions.
  • Extensive expertise with the Azure data stack (Databricks and Azure Data Factory etc.) and integrating backend systems with Power BI/Fabric analytics workflows. Experience enabling ML/AI on Azure is a plus.
  • Deep experience in data modelling, including designing and implementing medallion or layered data architectures and delivering single source of truth data models for business domains.
  • Expert-level skills in SQL, Python for large-scale data processing and transformation. Practical experience with CI/CD for data pipelines, version control, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Strong communication skills and a proven ability to translate stakeholder requirements into robust technical data solutions, collaborating effectively with BI, AI, systems, and process professionals to deliver scalable data solutions.
  • Experience working with procurement data is a strong plus.

On a personal level, you’re motivated by driving change, bridging gaps across cultures, and collaborating effectively with stakeholders from different domain backgrounds. You set high ambitions for yourself and can motivate and lead others toward best practices. You multitask effectively and manage multiple priorities in an organized manner. You thrive on enabling others to create values through high quality, accessible data.
