The position

We are seeking an Automation Engineer to join our Robotic and Automation team to create innovative automated solution and secure the successful implementation of new technologies in our aseptic manufacturing networks.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work in cross-functional projects as a subject matter expert for automation and process control systems.
  • Set requirements, review of technical documentation and participate in design meetings to guide suppliers.
  • Conduct risk assessment and ensure compliance with GMP, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Participate in commissioning activities to ensure that suppliers deliver the right technical solutions.
  • Develop and procure instrumentation and control systems for experimental setups (prototypes)
  • Secure the integration of the automated solutions in Novo Nordisk IT landscape.

 

In this role, you will closely collaborate with pilot sites and facilitate the integration of new projects across other parts of the organization. You will be part of a diverse team within the Technology and Innovation department, working alongside Project Managers, validation experts, IT experts and mechanical engineers. Your responsibilities will also involve engaging with external stakeholders such as vendors and consultants from equipment manufacturing companies.

You will develop projects from initial concepts to functional prototypes and proofs of concept, paving the way for their transition to full-scale production. Some domestic and international travel might be needed.

 

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with an innovative and solution-oriented mindset. As you will be working and collaborating with people from various departments and background, you need to be a good communicator that can adapt to different audiences.

Furthermore, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or another related field
  • Advanced automation: PLC, SCADA. (Siemens, Rockwell, or Beckhoff programming is beneficial)
  • Knowledge of functional safety and robust process control
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.

 

While experience with machine vision and machine learning is advantageous, it is not mandatory. Similarly, knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) is preferred but not essential.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, along with a quality-focused mindset and attention to detail.

 

About the department

You will be part of our Engineering department in Aseptic Manufacturing Technology & Innovation.  Our role is to develop new solutions to maximize capacity, reduce unit cost and improve compliance for aseptic filling lines in our global and growing manufacturing network.

Your working place will be primarily in Bagsværd and Lyngby and occasionally at our test facility in Kalundborg. Your home team will be Automation and Robotics, a dynamic and international team of 8 highly skilled engineers. The engineering department consists of other important colleagues such as Mechanical design, CFD and Validation engineers.
