About the department


The Data Office is a recently established unit in Global IT with a direct link into the Digital, Data and IT Committee but acting as the counterpart for Line of Business. The focus of the Data Office is to detail and execute Novo Nordisk’s Global Data Strategy to unlock the full potential of data across the enterprise.

Therefore, the Data Office is responsible to develop a Global Data Operating Model, a Global Data Governance framework to support Line of Business with the implementation of data governance as well as Data Foundation capabilities. 

As it’s a new unit, the number of employees is growing continuously, aligned to the speed of maturity of the data capabilities within the organisation.


The position


The Global Data Architect Director in Data Office bears the responsibility on behalf of the VP, Head of Data Office to foster value creation by supporting Novo Nordisk with the development of Data Foundation Capabilities like Data Catalog, Metadata Management, Data Architecture and Enterprise Data Model.

In doing so, the Global Data Architect Director is responsible for high risk, business critical and GXP validated technology platforms and services, reaching global stakeholders, and implementing innovative technology solutions across business areas and geographical areas.


Main tasks will include:


  • Accountability for the development of Master Data Management, Data Quality Management, Data Catalog, Metadata Management, Data Architecture, Enterprise Data Model and related capabilities
  • Architecture / subject-matter expert role in related initiatives and guide the solutioning and implementation of capabilities across Line of Business
  • Providing technical expertise and guidance for all the components that ensure enterprise-wide alignment and transparent data management
  • Takeover of the senior product owner role for Data Foundation Capabilities support implementation with internal project teams i.e. the capabilities owners, data partners as well as implementation partners




To be confident in this role, we believe you should have:

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in information science, computer science or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of data management experience, ideally from an IT consultancy / system integrator or an industrial company
  • 3+ years of progressive leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide projects, operating and influencing effectively across the organisation and within complex contexts
  • Experience with assessing and implementing enterprise-wide data management tools and data models


In addition, you have an excellent business acumen and interpersonal skills, and you can work across the line of business at a senior level to influence and effect change to achieve common goals. You have ability to describe business use cases/outcomes, data sources and management concepts, and analytical approaches/options.
