Experienced Scientist for Drying Campaigns

CMC API Pilots

Bagsværd, Denmark, Onsite

This is a unique opportunity to take a visible next step into an area with massive strategic priority and strong attention from the top of the organisation. Are you passionate about drying processes, GMP, and the production of future medicines? Do you thrive close to operations in a high-paced environment where quality, technical judgement, and collaboration are critical? Then this could be your opportunity to bring your experience into CMC API Pilots in Novo Nordisk, where your contribution will be seen and make a real difference.

Your new role

We are looking for an experienced and independent Scientist for our drying pilot in Bagsværd. You will play a central role in planning, executing, and evaluating drying campaigns and become an important scientific and operational partner to technicians, pilot scientists, and other key stakeholders.

In our team, we operate two units, and the role includes campaigns within drying. We do not necessarily expect you to bring deep hands-on experience with drying technologies from day one, but we do expect you to bring solid GMP understanding and strong documentation discipline.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, sizing, executing, and evaluating drying campaigns in close collaboration with pilot scientists, technicians, and other functions
  • Responsibility for production campaign documentation and release, including review and approval of batch documentation and release of API in compliance with GMP
  • Daily follow-up on operations, issue handling, and process optimisation during campaigns, including shop floor presence and troubleshooting
  • Acting as the scientific link to the process development laboratory in relation to process transfer, planning, and evaluation
  • Contributing to SOP development, quality system documentation, and deviation handling
  • Participating in cross-functional improvement initiatives, for example within LEAN and digitalisation
  • Managing tasks in a working environment with changing production plans and deadlines

The role may in periods involve off-hours work, including evening or weekend on-call duties, planned in accordance with production schedules.

Your new department

Purification Pilot Plants consists of approximately 80 employees across five teams and five facilities. We work with scale-up of purification processes and delivery of API for toxicology and clinical studies. In our team, we are responsible for the final step in the process: drying of API.

Your skills and qualifications

To succeed in this role, we imagine that you bring most of the following:

  • A degree in chemical engineering, pharmacy, chemistry, or a similar scientific discipline
  • Several years of relevant experience from a laboratory, pilot, or production environment, ideally within a GMP-regulated setup
  • Solid experience with GMP documentation, batch review, and deviation handling
  • Experience with drying processes in a laboratory, pilot, or production setting
  • The ability to size processes, make technical assessments, and take sound decisions during campaigns
  • Experience working across functions and contributing to improvement initiatives
  • Strong IT skills and familiarity with control systems and quality systems

We also value that you work in a structured way, take ownership, and thrive close to operations. You can maintain overview in a dynamic environment with multiple parallel tasks and shifting priorities, and you collaborate well with technicians as well as other stakeholders.

What we offer

You get a unique opportunity to step into a role with rare responsibility in a critical part of Novo Nordisk’s development and manufacturing value chain. You will join a specialised pilot environment where you can shape campaigns, collaborations, and the way we work in practice. This area has massive strategic priority and significant attention from the top of the organisation, giving you the opportunity to work in a part of the business that is closely followed, strongly supported, and high on the agenda. For the right internal candidate, this is not just a job move, but a visible next step and a chance to bring your Novo Nordisk experience into play in a role where you can make a real difference from day one.
