Environmental Lead

This is the opportunity to expertise to drive decarbonisation efforts within a global supply chain. We are seeking an Environmental Lead to join our team at Novo Nordisk in a 1-year maternity cover, where you will play a pivotal role in leading our decarbonisation roadmaps and strategic projects.

 

Your new role

This position will play a pivotal role in leading and supporting our climate roadmap and leading some of our key strategic projects and priorities within our decarbonisation tracks. We need to act within and beyond our own operations to achieve net zero emissions in 2045 as our supply chain accounts for 96% of our total CO2 emissions. Therefore, it’s crucial to work closely together with our procurement functions as well as our suppliers to reduce our emissions.

 

Your responsibilities within this role will include:

  • Manage Scope 3 decarbonisation roadmap execution related to product distribution across the business, in close collaboration with supply chain and procurement
  • Drive our Energy Data Management system, focusing on reporting, updating the system, energy SOPs and tools for EPL and energy mapping, as well as ensuring implementation of Danish energy regulation across Danish sites and offices/labs
  • Support on Scope 3 decarbonisation roadmap model maintenance, updates and reporting to ensure overview for target progress and budget reviews
  • Contribute to communicating initiatives and progress to internal and external stakeholders through facts & figures data collection, expert inputs, presentation, and more
  • Provide sustainability guidance and sparring to stakeholders on various decarbonisation technologies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and Line of Business to identify and implement decarbonisation projects

 

It is required to be based in Denmark for the full duration of the employment. Relocation assistance is not offered by Novo Nordisk.

Your skills and qualifications:

 

We expect you to bring:

  • Master’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, business or a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in climate strategy, sustainability, or environment-related fields, preferably related to supply chain decarbonisation in the transportation sector and energy management
  • Strong knowledge of greenhouse gas accounting and reporting practices, particularly related to Scope 3 emissions
  • Proven expertise in one or more of the following areas: sustainability strategy, Scope 3 decarbonisation or supplier engagement 
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead strategic initiatives effectively across business units
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, with a talent for building strong working relationships at all levels
  • Solid knowledge and experience in managing business processes and strategy development
  • A strong analytical mindset and comfortable working with data, numbers, and structured problem-solving in a business or scientific context
  • Experience using quantitative methods to evaluate performance, assess risks and opportunities, and support strategic or operational initiatives

 

You will bring relevant work experience from a corporate function within an international environment, demonstrating a strong ability to navigate complex situations involving multiple business units and stakeholders. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential for effective communication across diverse teams. A flexible mindset and a "can-do" attitude are also crucial, as they enable the candidate to work independently while adapting to the dynamic demands of the role.

Salary: For this role, the Annual Base Salary ranges from 742,600.00 to 1,091,600.00 DKK, corresponding to the level of the position.​

The placement within the salary range will be assessed during the recruitment process based on the candidate’s skills, competencies, knowledge, and relevant experience.​

Incentives and Benefits: The salary package may include short-term and/or long-term incentives as well as other employee benefits based on position level, location, functional area and relevant market benchmarks.​
