Environmental Compliance Specialist

Can you drive efficient and compliant permitting processes working closely with internal and external stakeholders including regulators and local authorities? If so, you may be our new Environmental Compliance Specialist.
Your new role
As our new Environmental Compliance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring Novo Nordisk maintains its license to operate and compliance with legal requirements regarding environment in support of our net zero commitment. You'll translate complex environmental regulations into practical solutions, working directly with regulatory bodies and key stakeholders, both centrally and at our production sites.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Support production sites with permit planning processes to ensure effective implementation and timely permitting for both existing facilities and expansion projects
- Manage permit applications, including environmental impact screenings and environmental assessments
- Act as single point of contact with regulators and municipalities to secure environmental permits and drive ongoing compliance
- Maintain ongoing compliance with applicable environmental regulations (primarily Danish law and relevant EU requirements)
- Understand, translate and communicate existing and emerging environmental regulations to stakeholders across Novo Nordisk
- Prepare and submit detailed compliance reports to management and regulatory bodies, demonstrating compliance in line with permit terms
- Stay at the forefront of emerging trends, technologies and regulations and be ready to integrate these in the way we work to ensure efficient, compliant systems and processes
Your new department
You will be part of Environmental Legal Compliance, a growing team of approximately 10 environmental and construction specialists. We are responsible for driving proactive environmental compliance to protect Novo Nordisk's license to operate and to reduce our environmental impact from production activities. As we support both existing production facilities and capacity expansion projects, our work is integral to enabling Novo Nordisk's growth while advancing our sustainability commitments.
Your skills & qualifications
We're looking for an experienced environmental professional who thrives in a fast-paced, changing environment and working closely together with colleagues. The successful candidate brings:
- Master’s degree in environmental science or a related field
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a corporate or site environmental compliance setting with a focus on risk, emissions and/or other environmental topics and knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and guidelines related to risk and emissions ideally and/or other environmental topics knowledge, including experience working with regulatory bodies to negotiate and secure environmental permits and terms
- Strong analytical skills with proven experience in environmental impact assessments and audits
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders across organizational levels
- Proficiency in environmental monitoring tools and software, and a process optimization mindset
- Fluent Danish and English skills, both written and verbal

Salary: For this role, the Annual Base Salary ranges from 651,000.00 to 956,900.00 DKK, corresponding to the level of the position. The placement within the salary range will be assessed during the recruitment process based on the candidate’s skills, competencies, knowledge and relevant experience.
Incentives and Benefits: The salary package may include short-term and/or long-term incentives as well as other employee benefits based on position level, location, functional area and relevant market benchmarks.
