Then you may be our next Commercial Director Obesity in the North West European regional office of Novo Nordisk.


The Job

With our life-changing quality products, we have already established a strong market presence in the therapeutic area Obesity around the world. But as a very low percentage of people living with obesity is getting any treatment today, there is a massive untapped potential. Together with the country heads of Obesity, you will be responsible for finding new ways for our existing product to reach more people, while simultaneously preparing for a successful launch of new products in the future. You will be working with a diverse set of stakeholders in complex commercial environments, where regulatory circumstances and international law play intricate and important roles in how we market and sell our quality products. You will be exploring how we can engage in more partnerships and strategic collaborations to be successful, while setting direction for how we can drive behavioural change in people living with obesity across North West Europe.

Through this and much more, you will be setting strategic directions for a therapy area that is expected to be an important growth driver for Novo Nordisk going forward. You will be identifying the ways we can grow across the North Western European countries we cover. You will be working closely together with the affiliates, inspire them to see ways of breaking barriers through innovation and new ways of collaborating with an array of partners within the health care system using the latest technologies. Defining resources for and scopes of analysis, you react to the insights you acquire, aligning with the affiliate teams to keep us at the forefront of opportunities and risks. Whether this requires you to challenge brand teams or inspire a change in status quo, you role model the needed transformation in an ethical way, energising structured planning and follow through on the initiatives you launch with the countries.

You will be tracking performance, identifying key gaps to address and pointing out a well-defined path in the complex landscape of customers, partners and regional stakeholders. As our Commercial Director, you will be representing Novo Nordisk in internal foras linked to our headquarter and externally at conferences, in knowledge networks and when meeting with new strategic partners. Internally you will also be inspiring your colleagues through your contribution to internal training programs.

Our new Commercial Director must expect around 30 travel days a year. The position is located out of our offices in Ørestaden, Copenhagen, Denmark. In special cases, for the right person, this position may be remotely filled by a candidate not located in Denmark. This will add to the amount of expected travel, though, depending on location.



You hold a  MSc, in business, marketing or science or similar combined with  7-10 years of commercial experience (marketing, sales, business development) from a commercial role, with experience from either markets or regional/headquarter, potentially from the pharmaceutical industry, but not necessarily. Experience from building a new market entering successful into partnerships will be an added advantage. Your analytical mind, your natural tendency to activate data- and science-based market insights and your keen eye for business opportunities will ensure the results we expect from you.  Your ambitions, your drive, your intuition and your creativity is what will create the results to make us go above and beyond together - we look forward to learning how you have always exceeded the expectations set up for you.

In other words, you have the commercial insight and experience, the strategic skill set, innovative mindset and a people approach that makes you successful in breaking barriers and pursue new opportunities in a complex, regional business environment with a diverse set of stakeholders and regulatory frameworks.

Candidates experienced with either Out-Of-Pocket or Over-The-Counter products will have an advantage, but we are ready to be persuaded by great arguments and results if you have another background.



About the department

In the regional office of North West Europe, a diverse group of professionals counting many different nationalities are working with 15 countries across the region. We are organised in a matrix structure of strategic and operational departments and teams across therapeutic areas. You will be part of the Commercial Obesity Team, setting the direction for our success in obesity, ensuring the right strategic and operational priorities for existing and future products. You will be working with internal colleagues and external collaborators across Europe and based in our country affiliates – from operational teams benefitting from your inspiration and direction, to management groups working with your analytic conclusions to decide on strategic endeavours.
