Your new role
As the Director, R&D Portfolio Finance, you and the team will work closely with senior stakeholders in R&D and Finance to maximise the value of Novo Nordisk’s R&D pipeline.  You will be Finance partner to the SVP of R&D Portfolio Strategy and Project Leadership and working closely with the SVP of Business Finance to ensure strong financial management of the R&D project pools.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a team of 9 Finance Partners with broad FP&A responsibilities and indirectly leadership of 2 colleagues in Global Business Services in India.
• Drive value creation, finance partnering and insights for the R&D project pools and the SVP area under your responsibility through coaching and leading the team of Finance Partners
• Responsible for financial decision material and insights to drive efficient and value generating governance decisions in close collaboration with the governance secretariate.
• Work with R&D Finance mgmt. team to continuously develop and strengthen how we work and ensure R&D Finance and Business Finance is the best place to work
• Process owner for the global clinical financial processes as well as all FP&A processes for the project pools
• Responsible for standardisation and optimisation of processes and tools for the financial mgmt. of R&D project pools, including utilization of new digital opportunities, e.g. AI

Furthermore, you are expected to partner with a broad range of stakeholders at senior managerial (SVP & CVP) level, to challenge strategic discussions and support with financial insights, drive the enterprise financial agenda in general, and ensure strong resource (re)allocation within areas of responsibility.

Your new department

R&D Finance is part of Novo Nordisk Business Finance and is responsible for the financial management of the Research & Development organisation and projects in the R&D pipeline. In R&D Finance you will be part of a young and ambitious team consisting of three teams with employees in Denmark and US, supported by colleagues from Global Business Services in India. Our overall ambition is to create impact by financial steering and finance partnering toward our stakeholders by combining strong functional competencies with a solid understanding of the business in which we operate. To do this, we collaborate closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation. We invest significant resources in developing our employees through close sparring, frequent feedback and by giving inspiring tasks and a high degree of responsibility.

Your skills and qualifications
To excel in this role, you hold a Master’s degree in Economics, Finance or similar.

Other success criteria are:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
• Leadership experience & stakeholder management skills
• Experience and proven track record in business partnering and financial management
• Strategic mindset and strong business acumen
• Ability to present complex financial matters in a simple way
• Strong communication skills, with proficiency in English both oral & written

As a person, you are proactive, self-driven, pleasantly persistent and a team player with strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
