The Position

As a Development Scientist for protein recovery, you will join Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) Manufacturing Development, Process Support department and be part of the Fermentation & Recovery Support Team. 

 

Our team is a dynamic and well-functioning one, consisting of 7 development scientists and 6 laboratory technicians, who are specialised in providing support to the Novo Nordisk API fermentation and recovery production processes. As a team, we thrive on professional challenges and work independently with great individual responsibility and a high level of commitment, and we focus on sharing knowledge.

 

This role offers a unique opportunity to work with multiple stakeholders including late-stage development, analysis teams, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, pilot facilities, production facilities, and external partners.

 

Since the role requires a high degree of self-organization, prioritizing work assignments is crucial. You can anticipate both personal and professional growth in this position.

While role is based in Bagsværd, the primary objective is to support the API manufacturing facilities in Kalundborg, DK, and Clayton, US. You can look forward to spending 1-3 days a month in Kalundborg, along with occasional minor travel activities.

 

Your main focus will be on: 
•    API process optimization.
•    Providing support to production facilities, including problem-solving.
•    Planning and evaluation of experiments. 
•    Preparation of protocols and reports.
•    Preparation and maintenance of development documentation.


Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you have:
•    A master’s degree in chemistry, pharmacy, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical design and engineering, or a related field.
•    Preferably hands-on experience or knowledge in one or more of the following fields: protein recovery and purification, separation techniques like filtration, chromatography, and precipitation or/and organic chemistry and chemical modifications.
•    Experience with programming and utilising large data sets for predictive modelling are skills, which is considered an advantage. 
•    Full professional proficiency in written and spoken English, while having proficiency in Danish is nice to have.

About the Department

Novo Nordisk’s Product Supply organisation, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (PS API) is responsible for manufacturing of APIs for Novo Nordisk’s products. You will be assigned to API MSAT Upstream Process Support, a cross-functional area that works at the interface between R&D and full-scale manufacturing with a focus on process understanding, implementation and optimisation. 

 

The department, API MSAT Upstream Process Support, consists of approx. 30 employees distributed into 2 teams. The department is in Bagsværd, but also has a team in Gentofte, the department is a part of the PS API MSAT organisation.
