Your new role

As a Clean Utility Specialist, you will hold scientific ownership and act as the subject‑matter authority for clean utility qualification in projects involving new facilities and upgrades to existing ones. You will provide expert input to key project decisions and ensure robust GMP compliance throughout the project lifecycle in close collaboration with engineering, QA, operations, and external suppliers.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead qualification activities for clean utilities across engineering projects.
  • Utilise your clean utility expertise across planning, execution, qualification, and handover.
  • Support the selection and implementation of compliant clean utility solutions
  • Act as a sparring partner and mentor on qualification strategies and technical solutions.
  • Influence project decisions through data‑driven, evidence‑based reasoning
  • Contribute to qualification documentation, data packages, and handover to operations.
  • Collaborate across a complex stakeholder environment to support and govern timely compliant project delivery.

Clean utilities in scope include Nitrogen, Water systems (PW and WFI), Steam, and Compressed Air.

The role offers broad exposure to clean utilities in a pilot‑scale, development setting where early design choices have significant downstream impact.

 

Your skills & qualifications

We are looking for an experienced specialist who combines strong technical expertise with a proactive, collaborative mindset and enjoys contributing across interfaces.

To succeed in this role, you have:

  • A scientific or engineering background, such as an MSc (cand.scient.) or engineering degree.
  • A strong track record of qualifying clean utilities in a GMP regulated environment.
  • A minimum of 6+ years of experience working with clean utilities.
  • Hands‑on experience with clean utilities such as nitrogen, PW, WFI, steam and compressed air

As a person, you bring a proactive and engaging mindset that helps move projects forward and supports strong team collaboration. You are comfortable working independently while effectively partnering across complex stakeholder environments and have the confidence to influence colleagues and stakeholders through evidence‑based reasoning. You thrive in dynamic settings where priorities evolve and new data impacts decisions, and you communicate complex technical insights clearly and convincingly.

 

Your new department

You will join CMC Pilots Engineering, part of CMC Pilots within the CMC Development organisation. CMC Development's role in Novo Nordisk's value chain is to turn molecules into approved products in close cooperation with our colleagues in Research & Development and Global Manufacturing & Supply.

CMC Pilots supports the production of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) for clinical trials and plays a critical role in enabling product development and ensuring smooth process transfer to commercial production.


The Engineering Project department consists of more than 80 colleagues and delivers complex investment and major projects that expand and modernise pilot capacity. The department works in a collaborative, project‑driven environment where engineering, quality and science are closely integrated to enable safe, compliant and reliable manufacturing.
