CATEGORY MANAGER for the Raw Materials & Finished Products Department

Then read on, as you may be our next Category Manager to contribute to our ongoing efforts to secure the ability of the Product Supply division of Novo Nordisk to deliver the products needed by millions of people living with chronic diseases.

The position

As Category Manager you will be responsible for the Excipients category that is used for our drug substance processes. You will drive the commercial agenda and act as sourcing and manufacturing partner to our internal customers. In addition, you will ensure solid category management of supplier relations, budget, risk mitigation and contracts while identifying optimization opportunities. It is essential that you establish effective supplier relationships and ensure the right balance between risk and business impact to secure supply at the best commercial terms. You will be part of a cluster with other category managers with whom you will also collaborate, to secure that we deliver on all tasks within the cluster.

You will be working with suppliers internationally and hence you should expect 10-20 days of travel activities per year. This position holds ample opportunities for personal and professional development.



  • You hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field e.g. supply chain, business, or engineering
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience within procurement from a large international organization, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry
  • It is not required to have prior knowledge of Excipients

You demonstrate a customer-oriented behavior, commercial edge and thrive in stakeholder management. Additionally, you are a skilled project manager with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of numbers. Moreover, you are confident when navigating in a big organization and have the ability to successfully orchestrate sourcing related projects across multiple functions.  


As a person, you thrive and understand how to work in a multi-cultural environment, bring a ‘can-do attitude’, and a healthy sense of humor to your work also when under pressure. Lastly, you are fluent in both verbal and written English.


About the department
Strategic Sourcing is the central sourcing unit in Novo Nordisk’s Product Supply division. We are responsible for ensuring that we have suppliers in place that can support Novo Nordisk’s worldwide pharmaceutical production. Through collaboration with our international suppliers, we ensure availability of the supply needed to develop and produce products that helps millions of people around the world to live with chronic diseases. You will be part of a multi-cultural team that ensures global supply of GXP raw materials and services, primary and secondary packaging, critical production materials and life science chemicals. Joining our team, you will be surrounded by several experienced international Category Managers, allowing you to continue your development within the sourcing domain.
