Your new role
As Associate Human Rights Compliance Counsel, you will support Novo Nordisk's work on human rights within our global Ethics & Compliance (E&C) programme. Working closely with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation, you will help drive the implementation of our Human Rights Commitment and contribute to ensuring that respect for human rights is embedded in the way we operate globally.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the development and execution of the Human Rights Roadmap and contributing to Novo Nordisk's ongoing work on human rights as part of the broader E&C agenda
- Providing guidance and support on global and local human rights topics, including helping assess risks and collaborating with stakeholders across Compliance, ESG, Lines of Business and Responsible Sourcing
- Contributing to ESG-related reporting and disclosures, including annual updates to Novo Nordisk's Human Rights Report, Modern Slavery Act Statements and input to the Annual Report
- Supporting human rights-related activities within CSRD and EU Taxonomy workstreams (e.g. ESRS S1-S4, EU Taxonomy Minimum Social Safeguards) and contributing to the implementation of mandatory human rights due diligence legislation
- Helping build awareness and understanding of human rights through training sessions, workshops and communication initiatives across headquarters and global operations
- Participating in external networks and stakeholder forums, to support ongoing development of our human rights programme.

In Finance, Legal & Global Solutions, we enable Novo Nordisk to fulfil our purpose by safeguarding the business, providing corporate infrastructure, and driving value creation. We are a team of 2,300 colleagues primarily based at our headquarters in Denmark and our Global Business Services centres in India and Mexico.
Within this area, the Business Ethics Compliance Office (BECO) sits at the heart of our global Ethics & Compliance programme You will join BECO as part of the Strategic Operations & Advice team, which has significant influence on how ethics and compliance is lived across our global organisation. The team ensures a robust global E&C programme through risk identification, governance, training and continuous monitoring – balancing local maturity and cultures with a consistent global standard. As our human rights expert, you will play a pivotal role in embedding respect for human rights into every element of that programme.
Your skills & qualifications
We're looking for an early-career professional with a strong interest in human rights and sustainability, who enjoys collaborating with stakeholders and contributing to meaningful projects in a global organisation. To succeed in this role, you'll bring:
- An MSc degree in Law, Human Rights, Sustainability, Political Science, International Business or a related field
- Newly graduated or up to 1-2 years' full-time experience within human rights, sustainability and/or compliance in a global organisation – preferably from the pharmaceutical, chemical, life sciences or medical device industry (overseas work experience is a plus)
- An understanding of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and international human rights frameworks, gained through academic studies, internships or early professional experience
- Familiarity with Ethics & Compliance frameworks (codes of conduct, FCPA, UK Anti-Bribery Act) is an advantage
- An ability to build positive working relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across different functions and cultures
- Excellent English communication skills – written, oral and presentation – with the confidence to present information clearly and engage with a variety of stakeholders
- A proactive and structured approach to work, with strong analytical skills and an interest in project coordination, risk assessment and continuous learning

Salary: For this role, the Annual Base Salary ranges from 549,600.00 to 807,800.00 DKK, corresponding to the level of the position.
As this position is designed for a recent graduate or early-career professional, the compensation package will reflect the level of experience and responsibilities associated with the role.
Incentives and Benefits: The salary package may include short-term and/or long-term incentives as well as other employee benefits based on position level, location, functional area and relevant market benchmarks.
