In the Global Data & AI organisation, we are currently looking for a Vice President for Data Management, who will lead the strategic direction, development, and execution of the company’s data-driven initiatives with a focus on data management.
The Position
You will report directly to the Corporate Vice President of Global Data & AI, responsible to lead an organisation of 50 direct reports and +90 indirectly. You will be responsible for driving innovation, process definition, and platform implementation in the areas of data governance, data engineering design, master data management, metadata management, data catalogue, data marketplace, and data quality. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with NN line of business teams to enable the creation of an enterprise connected data landscape that accelerates data driven decisions.
As main accountabilities, you will be responsible for:
- Data Governance:
- Develop and implement an Enterprise Data Governance strategy aligned with the company’s goals together with line of business.
- Provide guidance, process and tools that ensure the data is properly managed, protected, and leveraged to drive business value. This includes a range of features and services design to establish and maintain robust data governance services.
- Data Engineering Design:
- Deliver a suite of services and expertise that support the LoBs in integrating, managing, processing and deriving data. This encompasses a wide range of capabilities to enable efficient and effective data management and utilization.
- Drive the development of data engineering pipelines to efficiently leverage machine learning and AI that accelerate the capture of data and descriptions to reduce the intervals for data reuse.
- Technology Platforms & Tools:
- Provide the framework and platform to ensure that critical business data is consistent, accurate, and accessible across NN. This includes the processes and services to enable high standards of master data quality, consistency, and accessibility.
- Deliver centralized data collaboration and exchange capabilities on a platform that enables data providers and consumer to connect to discover, evaluate, and reuse data assets and products aligned with NN security and privacy requirements.
- Provide services to LoB and IT teams supporting line of business to accelerate their delivery of business solutions.
- Lead efforts to build or integrate new technologies and tools that accelerate real-time data analysis and data re-use.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with the LoBs to understand their data needs and enable the interoperability of LoB systems with the frameworks and platforms.
- Partner with IT team supporting line of business to ensure the data management solutions are well integrated in business architecture and business portfolio.
- Act as a key liaison with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, research institutions, and technology vendors.
- Collaborate with the regulatory and quality assurance teams to ensure adherence to industry standards and requirements for data management.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Build and lead a high-performing and distributed team of product managers, business analysts, data engineers, architects, developers, and technologists.
- Promote diversity of thought and create an inclusive environment where data innovation can thrive.
- Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure all data service deliveries, re-use processes, and activities are compliant with global regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., GxP, 21 CFR Part 11).
- Oversee risk management strategies related to data privacy, security, and ethical use of data in the enterprise.
- Data Management Global Business Service:
- Establish Data Management global presence with initial development of Business Services in India.
- Attract, develop and retain talents and ensure they work in a global delivery model alongside rest of the team.
- Performance Metrics:
- Manage and execute product portfolio within timeline, quality, budget.
- Track the advancement of data management capabilities within the organization.
- High satisfaction with the data management services provided by the team.
Qualifications
Outstanding Leadership and communication skills. You hold a master’s degree or PhD in Data, Data Science, Computer Science, AI, or a related field. A Data practitioner, with proven experience moving ideas into productive solution in a regulated industry. 15+ years of experience in data management leadership roles, with at least 7 years in life sciences or pharmaceutical industries with proven track record of developing and implementing data management including data governance strategies that accelerate the business capability to connect data, reuse data and establish enterprise master data management, in large-scale enterprise platforms with regulatory requirements and data standards specific to the life sciences (e.g., CDISC, SDTM, ADaM), including emerging technologies in the life-sciences domain. Experience working in cross-functional teams as a priority.
