In the Global Data & AI organisation, we are currently looking for a Vice President R&ED Data and Analytics Technology, who will lead the development, and execution of the company’s data-driven initiatives.
The Position
You will report directly to the Corporate Vice President of Global Data & AI, responsible to lead an organisation of 30 direct reports and +90 indirectly. You will be responsible for enabling the technical development of the data and AI driven initiatives in close collaboration with business teams and embedded Data / Data science teams with a focus on Research and Early development. This executive will drive innovation in data and analytics technology solutions incl. AI/ML to help business accelerating target discovery and molecular design.
As main accountabilities, you will be responsible for:
- Data and analytics technology solutions:
- Contribute to the design, build and maintenance of solutions that support defined business data and analytics strategies together with line of business and in support of embedded data initiatives (e.g. data capture, data products).
- Represent Digital technology team and work in conjunction with existing expert functions to jointly develop with line of business advanced analytics products and platforms utilizing machine learning, AI, etc.
- Advanced Analytics solutions:
- Support and complement existing AI expert functions developing advanced analytics products and platforms utilizing machine learning, AI, and bioinformatics to extract insights from complex clinical and research datasets and drive productivity in pipeline progression.
- Enable partner functions to stay at the forefront of key applications of data science in drug discovery through use of new technologies.
- Technology Infrastructure & Tools:
- Oversee the design and management of scalable data architecture and technology platforms that support high-volume data processing (e.g., cloud-based infrastructures, data lakes).
- Ensure interoperability of data systems across functions such as research, clinical development, regulatory, and commercial.
- Lead efforts to build or integrate new technologies and tools that facilitate real-time data analysis, visualization, and collaboration.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with embedded data / AI teams within research when agreed to identify opportunities for leveraging data and analytics to drive scientific discoveries, optimize clinical trials, and support evidence-based decision-making
- Partner with DD&IT team supporting line of business to leverage the one-point-of-contact agreement between LoB and DD&T until otherwise agreed, to ensure the data and analytics solutions are well integrated in business architecture and business portfolio
- Act as a key liaison with external stakeholders and technology vendors.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Build, lead and retain a high-performing and distributed team of product managers, data engineers, scientists, analysts, bioinformaticians, and technologists.
- Establish partnership with key technology and service companies to ensure a scalable and efficient model.
- Promote diversity of thought and create an inclusive environment where data innovation can thrive.
- Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure all data activities are compliant with global regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., GxP, 21 CFR Part 11).
- Oversee risk management strategies related to data privacy, security, and ethical use of data in drug development as well as up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and drive compliance initiatives to minimize business risk.
- Performance Metrics:
- Execute activities within timeline, quality, budget
- Track the advancement of analytics capabilities within the organization as well as utilisation of data for decision-making across departments.
- High satisfaction with the data and analytics services provided by the team in partnership with data / AI embedded teams)
Qualifications
Outstanding Leadership and communication skills. You hold a master’s degree or PhD in Data, Data Science, Computer Science, AI, or a related field. A Data practitioner, with proven experience moving ideas into productive solution in a regulated industry. 15+ years of experience in data and analytics leadership roles, with at least 7 years in life sciences or pharmaceutical industries working in a global and complex organisation with proven track record of developing and implementing data solutions that accelerate drug discovery. Experience managing large-scale data platforms, including cloud computing, data lakes, and advanced analytics technologies. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and data standards specific to the life sciences (e.g., CDISC, SDTM, ADaM), including emerging technologies in the life-sciences domain. Experience working in cross-functional teams as a priority.
