The position 
As Lead Data Engineer at Novo Nordisk, you will be anchoring the below responsibilities:

  • Work with teams of data engineers fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and excellence.
  • Execute the data engineering strategy in partnership with stakeholders.
  • Define and enable the implementation of the best practices, standards, tools and services for data engineering, ensuring efficient data management.
  • Enable the implementation of data pipelines, data platforms and tools by providing engi-neers automation and optimization capabilities to ensure the FAIR create data product process is efficient.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and efficient data management solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and address tech-nical requirements in addition to implementing efficiency improvements.
  • Provide processes and capabilities to ensure achievement of the data quality and system performance measures.
  • Work in a high-performance team that fosters a culture of professional growth while promoting diversity and inclusion.

 

Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have:

  • A master’s degree in Data, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in software and data engineering, with at least 4+ years specifical-ly in Data Pipeline Engineering and Integration. Proven ability to lead complex data engineering projects.
  • Strong proficiency in Databricks, with deep knowledge of its core functionalities for optimizing data workflows and analytics.
  • Extensive experience with Python, particularly for data manipulation, automation, and model development.
  • Proficiency in SQL for complex query development, performance tuning, and data extraction across various databases.
  • Hands-on experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pro-cesses and tools for smooth software delivery and code deployment.
  • Expertise in data modeling, data integration, metadata management, and data govern-ance to establish robust and scalable data architectures.
  • Solid experience with cloud technologies, including Azure and AWS (certifications are a plus).
  • Familiarity with life sciences regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Experience in designing scalable data engineering solutions, collaborating with business teams, and leading virtual technical teams.

You will be part of the Digital, Data, and IT (DD&IT) Global Data & Artificial Intelligence team. The Data Management department is globally distributed and has for mission to harness the power of Data and Artificial Intelligence, integrating it seamlessly into the fabric of Novo Nordisk's operations. We provide the foundation to integrate the areas of Data and Artificial Intelligence throughout the whole organization, empowering Novo Nordisk to realize its strategic ambitions to create a connected data landscape. We drive the innovation, process definition, and platform implementation in the areas of data governance, data engineering design, master data manage-ment, metadata management, data marketplace, and data quality aligned with business priori-ties.
