We drive tech leadership through innovative software products and platform solutions - combining deep expertise in software engineering and user needs with an efficient, compliant, and scalable delivery model. We set new standards for designing, developing, and operating digital solutions in Novo Nordisk.
We have just launched a new enterprise strategy for product engineering, and you will play a pivotal role in maturing and expanding our offerings as the business evolves and needs change.
You will head up a product engineering organisation in Digital Products with a specific focus on Product Supply. You will be part of the Digital Products Leadership Team, and report to the VP of Digital Products (DP).
We are looking for a tech leader who is eager to drive maturity within product engineering and have passion for business development and leading people within this field – someone who can set the direction, provide guidance, and drive maturity.
The position
As Director of Digital Products - Product Supply, your focus will be on partnering with the Product Supply business area, where we are on an exciting mission to accelerate the digital transformation. You will be working closely with units in Product Supply, developing and operating digital products, enabling end users at production shopfloor and in the laboratories to work smarter.
You will drive ideas to PoC and to scale, as well as ensuring continuous DevOps and growth of our products in partnership with colleagues in the business and Digital, Data & IT. Together you will move from a single product strategy to architecting unified digital experiences across the data and solution landscape.
Senior Engineering Managers will report directly to you, whose responsibility is to be close to the product teams ensuring product engineering best practices and tools are applied.
As Director of Digital Products - Product Supply, your key responsibilities will include:
- Close collaboration with senior stakeholders to enable and realise digital aspirations while focusing on business development and partnership with Product Support to identify and initiate digital innovation through design and software build opportunities
- Driving technical leadership, creating engineering culture and advancing maturity within product management
- Scaling our delivery model through strategic external partnerships
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including software engineering platform, product management and design, to define, deliver and maintain high-quality inhouse-built products (DevOps)
- Leading and mentoring a team of skilled Senior Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, Software Engineers, and Scrum Masters fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence
Beyond this, you will contribute to implementing Novo Nordisk's DP&SE strategy as part of the DP Leadership Team, while fostering an environment of innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence.
The primary working location for this role is Ørestaden. However, some presence in secondary locations, including Bagsværd and Høje Tåstrup, will be required on a weekly basis to ensure seamless collaboration across sites.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, we imagine you have a master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related fields and fulfil most of the following qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years leadership experience from similar roles with proven track record of successfully delivering high-quality software products and product organisations, also through external partners
- Solid experience within the software development life cycle applying a DevOps and digital product management mindset, combined with technical expertise in cloud technologies (AWS/Azure), programming languages (i.e. Python, C#, Vue), engineering platforms and automation frameworks
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and nurturing high-performing engineering teams, as well as experience working with product teams in an Agile/Scrum framework
- Strong stakeholder management and effective communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in vendor management, and leading recommendations for build or buy decisions
- Proven abilities within strategy development and execution in the IT space, preferably within an innovation or product engineering domain
In addition, your background includes driving transformations through personal advocacy, engagement, and leadership, with an ability to set strategic direction and inspire others to realise innovative visions.
You possess strong stakeholder management and communication skills, and advocate convincingly about the value of software and what it will take to build reliable, scalable, and maintainable software products, particularly to stakeholders and decisions makers who are less experienced in the field.
On a personal level you have a positive, inclusive mindset, and bring energy as well as an ability to challenge the status quo into your interaction with stakeholders. You can set direction on strategic matters and communicate an engaging vision that is founded in the broader purpose of Novo Nordisk. You are empathetic and can create a sustainable work environment, build trust, motivate teams, and accelerate people development.
