The Position

As the Senior Director Supply Chain Operations and North America Demand Planning, you will provide leadership and management in the planning, optimization, and execution of commercial supply chain activities to ensure seamless product flow to serve all our patients. You will demonstrate leadership ability and end-to-end commercial supply chain expertise, be able to work independently and enjoy working in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment. You will be a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of more aspects of supply chain management, from production to distribution. You will also be a strong communicator and collaborator with a demonstrated ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.

 

Key responsibilities: Lead and manage the North America demand planning function, ensuring accurate forecasting, inventory optimization, and alignment with commercial and supply chain partners. Oversee the supply chain operations function, including distribution, logistics, warehousing, customer service, and trade compliance. Develop and implement strategies to improve supply chain efficiency, agility, scalability, and customer satisfaction. Drive continuous improvement and innovation initiatives to enhance supply chain performance and reduce costs. Collaborate with global and other commercial supply chain leaders, as well as cross-functional stakeholders, to ensure alignment and coordination of supply chain activities and objectives. Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, such as contract manufacturers, distributors, carriers, and service providers. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to supply chain operations and demand planning. Manage and develop a team of supply chain professionals, providing coaching, feedback, and career development opportunities.

 

Relationships

Reports to the Executive Director, North America Supply Chain. Reporting into this position are: Director Demand Planning & Fulfillment, Director Wholesaler & Supply Chain Strategy & Director, Supply Chain Operations.

 

This position regularly interacts with the senior leadership in Pricing & Contracting, Regulatory, Marketing, Legal, IT and the Account Executives for all product therapy areas. Maintains external relationships with the leadership of wholesaler and distributor accounts   as well as with key personnel from wholesaler organizations and associations. Owns, among others, third-party relationships with Transportation Providers, 3rd Party Logistics Provider and 3rd Party Reverse Logistics Provider.

 

Physical Requirements

0-10% overnight travel required.

 

Development of People

Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.

 

Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.

 

Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or related field. Master's degree or MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or medical device industry, with knowledge of commercial supply chain processes and best practices
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to use data and metrics to drive performance and improvement
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, foster a culture of excellence, and develop talent
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, manage multiple projects, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and supply chain planning tools
