If you have a passion for project management and are ready to make a difference, read on and apply today for a life-changing career.

About the department
At Novo Nordisk (NN) we are experiencing rapid growth in sales over the recent years and along with the wide range of new products to be launched, we are re-enforcing our production capability worldwide.
As our Koriyama Factory (KFA) is also expanding its workforce, one of the exciting opportunities is now available for a project portfolio manager, KFA in Japan to join one of the largest scale projects of the factory expansion (expanding the building, not just the equipment) by collaborating with the team members.
Not only that, this position will be in charge of the overall portfolio management of the Koriyama plant thereafter. As a result, you will have ample opportunities to engage not only within the project office to which you are being assigned, but also across departments and globally.

The position
As a Project Portfolio Manager, your role will include creating and managing project portfolios, guiding the organization in making appropriate investment decisions through transparent decision-making, communicating with project managers to provide updates on project status and track investment returns, managing risks across the organization, ensuring compliance with all internal and external regulations, and complying to NN's corporate values and principles.

  • Identify business goals and set targets. Gather and research information and ideas, including new products, for potential projects. Prioritize projects considering constraints such as budget, human resources, and delivery dates, and find the best projects to achieve the portfolio while effectively managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Verify the entire portfolio to ensure that all activities comply with applicable requirements, both internal and external (such as GxP, occupational health and safety, and environmental standards).
  • Periodically share project status updates and best practices with the project portfolio manager at the overseas site.
  • Ensure that all project-related activities maintain not only quality and process performance but also environmental sustainability and the safety and health of employees.
  • Another responsibility is to continuously seek opportunities for implementing new technologies by assessing what is available in the market. Utilizing external knowledge is essential to broaden your perspective on emerging technologies and identify areas within KFA where they are likely to be utilized.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above is required.
  • Management accounting experience is a plus.
  • Business-level English and Japanese (reading, writing, speaking) required.
  • Project portfolio management experience with a focus on investment prioritization and resource optimization required.
  • Project management experience at a manufacturing site for facilities related to production, storage and logistics required.
