The position

As a System Engineering Manager for a Systems Engineering Team in DE, you will manage one of three systems engineering teams comprising 10-14 professionals. You will play a crucial role in maintaining and developing the necessary capabilities in Systems Engineering (SE) to support the DDS Strategy. Reporting to the director of DE, your responsibilities will include managing project allocations, building capabilities, and operationalizing the team's strategy.

Some of your main responsibilities include:

  • Setting direction and fostering high performance and engagement through team empowerment, leading by example, and building trust.
  • Ensuring resource allocation to our development projects.
  • Prioritizing critical tasks and assigning work accordingly.
  • Managing stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Being accountable for planning and executing the technical deliverables in the device development projects covered by Systems Engineering.
  • Collaborating with the Systems Engineering manager team to set the future direction for systems engineering in Novo Nordisk.

Qualifications

To succeed in this position, we expect you to:

  • Hold a master’s degree in engineering or any other relevant technical field.
  • Possess previous experience in product, device, or manufacturing development, ideally from a system engineering perspective in a regulated environment (preferably within medical devices or the pharmaceutical industry).
  • Have 1-3 years of line management experience combined with the ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Project leadership would be a great asset but not a prerequisite.
  • Be fluent in English, both written and spoken.

About the Department

In DE, we are responsible for all project deliveries within key engineering disciplines, including Systems Engineering, Risk Management, and Mechanical Engineering. We are a team of over 100 people continuously adapting to deliver best-in-class products in the most efficient and enjoyable way possible. As a Systems Engineering Team Leader, you will be part of a team of 8 leaders, each organized according to skill type and focused on either variants or platforms. Being part of a new and growing organization requires a strong focus on collaboration and ensuring competence development and process optimization/development for your specific engineering area.

Systems Engineering underpins most aspects of medical device development, so our work is integrated into various processes within the development and manufacturing landscape, and our stakeholders have backgrounds in a variety of engineering and scientific disciplines.

DE is part of Delivery Solutions Engineering (DSE) in DDS, and we are passionate about developing the world's best medical devices for the treatment of chronic diseases within our focused therapeutic areas: Diabetes, Obesity, Haemophilia & Growth hormone disorders. We design and develop delivery systems for our treatments to ensure correct dosing and convenience for the patient. Our devices are developed in close collaboration between patients and the scientific discovery teams at Novo Nordisk, ensuring that the developed devices are safe and easy for patients to use while being compatible with the drug products taken into development.
