The position

In this role, you will assist the Senior Director of Legal, Quality and Compliance (LQC) in continuously looking at the strategic direction of legal and compliance priorities in the UK business, liaising closely with senior colleagues on an affiliate, Regional and Head Quarter level.  Additionally, you will play a vital part in ensuring business ethics remain high on the agenda and that the business remains compliant, and risks are mitigated.  Your main tasks will include:

 

  • Legal advice to UK affiliates on a variety of legal matters such as: data privacy, competition law, commercial, contracts
  • Continuously raise the awareness of legal risks according to current legislation
  • Maintenance of legal internal processes and its continuous improvement
  • GDPR responsible, ensuring the awareness on new data privacy laws, the GDPR project implementation and maintenance by line of business
  • Coordinate advice with our ABPI Code experts to ensure Business Ethics compliance with all company processes, in accordance with all relevant legislation and guidelines including UK Medicines Law, the ABPI Code of Practice, MHRA guidelines and other agencies such as the Advertising Standards Authority and company standard operating procedures

 

Additionally, you will play a vital part in ensuring business ethics remain high on the agenda and that the business remains compliant, and risks are mitigated.

 

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should be:

  • A quality lawyer with 7 years+ PQE, and in-house experience within the pharmaceutical industry, where you will have gained solid experience advising on a wider range of legal issues, including regulatory matters, data privacy/protection, competition law, and contract law
  • An expert knowledge and understanding in Business Ethics matters, ABPI Code of Practice coupled with a robust knowledge of UK and European legislation
  • Capable of producing high quality work in a flexible, fast-paced environment, to demonstrate creativity in resolving challenging business problems and have the tenacity to achieve tight deadlines
  • Able to comprehend broad business issues, grasp complexity effectively, and communicate intricate messages confidently, both in writing and verbally
  • Independent and with a proactive mindset

 

About the department

UK LQC is a function within the UK affiliate, consisting of 10 employees across the three functions of Legal, Quality and Compliance, headed up by a Senior Director. The teams work fluidly with each other to ensure each area is updated on all priorities across the team.
